Valve spoke about the second major-tournament on Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in 2017. The championship will be held from 16 to 23 July in Krakow. PGL will be the organizer, and the prize fund will again amount to $ 1 million. As in the case of previous major tournaments, the organizers issued invitations to the eight strongest teams of the previous “major”.

The trips were received by Astralis, Virtus.pro G2A, SK Gaming, fnatic, FaZe Clan, North, Gambit Esports and Natus Vincere G2A. They will be joined by eight teams from the offline qualification, which will be attended by the remaining members of The ELEAGUE Major 2017 and the finalists of the four regional qualifiers.

Schedule PGL Krakow Major:

– June 1-4: PGL Asia Minor Championship

– June 8-11: PGL Americas Minor Championship

– June 8-11: PGL CIS Minor Championship

– June 15-18: PGL Europe Minor Championship

– June 29 – July 2: offline qualification for PGL Krakow Major

– July 16-19: the group stage of PGL Krakow Major

– July 21-23: the playoffs of PGL Krakow

The play-off matches will be taken by the TAURON Arena Krakow with a capacity of 15 thousand spectators. In the summer of 2016 it hosted the decisive duels of the 2016 EU LCS Summer Split. The tournament in Krakow will be the first “major”, whose matches will be shown in a resolution of 1080p with 60 frames per second. PGL also promised to present “a number of new features that will make viewing at home and in the stadium an unforgettable experience.”

PGL Krakow Major will be the 11th major tournament in the history of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Like last year, Valve decided to hold two championships with a prize fund of $ 1 million instead of three with $ 250,000 at stake. In the status of the world champion according to the version of the developers, Astralis will come to the tournament. In the final of The ELEAGUE Major 2017, she beat Virtus.pro G2A with a score of 2: 1.
