The Astralis team declined an invitation to the ESL One Cologne 2017 due to the preparations for the PGL Major Kraków 2017. The team published the information on this in a tweet. The summer “major” will begin one week after the end of the tournament in Cologne. According to representatives of Astralis, it is more important for the team to defend the title of the winners of the major tournament. ESL One Cologne 2017 will be held from 7 to 9 June, and PGL Major Kraków 2017 – from 16 to 23 June. Previously Astralis player Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen said that the team will only play in standing tournaments in 2017 due to the number of competitions and flights.

ESL One Cologne for the first time since 2014 has not received the status of a major tournament. The organizers will hold the championship without the support of Valve with a prize fund of $ 250 thousand. The venue will be “Lanxess-Arena”. Earlier participation in the championship was confirmed by Virtus.pro G2A, SK Gaming and FaZe Clan. In all, 16 teams will perform at the competition. Another nine teams will receive invitations, and the remaining four will be determined through qualifications. PGL Major Kraków 2017 will be the second major tournament in 2017. From January 22 to 29, the ELEAGUE Major 2017 was held in Atlanta, where Astralis won.

In the final of the championship, the Danish five won from Virtus.pro and received $ 500 thousand. At the competition in Krakow, Astralis has an invite, because it went to the playoffs of ELEAGUE Major.
